The Boston Celtics' hopes at repeating as NBA champions were dashed by the New York Knicks in a memorable upset, and one of the faces of the league has an explanation to offer as to how it happened.
The Celtics said the 6-time All-Star underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon on Tuesday. No timetable is available for his return, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
The 27-year-old Tatum met with his teammates on Thursday at the team hotel for the first time since his Achilles tear. Payton Pritchard, who won the Sixth Man of the Year Award this season, said it was great to see his "brother."
