Comedian Craig Robinson, known for playing Darryl Philbin in “The Office,” shocked fans when he announced plans to close the curtain on his comedy career and focus on his “true calling.”

The reports of Craig Robinson’s retirement from comedy appear to have been greatly exaggerated. Turns out “The Office” star’s so-called “retirement” is believed to be part of a new brand marketing campaign expected to be unleashed in the coming days - and perhaps for a division of AT&T.

Robinson is only pretending to be a small business owner in what will be a series of AT&T commercials that will reunite him with his Office-mates.

The (former?) comedian is joined by Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey, Creed Bratton and Oscar Nuñez to pitch his innovative small business idea.

Craig Robinson is leaving comedy for good. In a recent video post on Instagram, "The Office" actor revealed that he is giving up comedy to focus on "something bigger." In the caption of the post,

"Hey everybody, just wanted you to hear it from me: I am quitting comedy," Robinson said in an Instagram post on Sunday. "But not for nothing. It's been an amazing run. Y'all been amazing and wonderful, but I'm following something bigger. So, you know, thank you so much, I love you and stay tuned."
