The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to review whether Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's lawsuit seeking to shut down part of an aging pipeline under the Straits of Mackinac belongs in state or federal court.

The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday that it would review whether a case filed by Attorney General Dana Nessel should remain in state or federal court.

Enbridge is seeking state and federal permits to build a deep underground tunnel beneath the straits into which an approximately four-mile section of the pipeline would be rerouted. The existing pipeline runs between the Upper and Lower peninsulas along Great Lakes bottomlands at the straits, where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet.
