76ers Sign Former McDonald’s All-American After NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia 76ers used the No. 3 pick to select Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe, then selected Auburn center Johni Broome at No. 35.

The NBA Draft is officially here, as the first round begins on Wednesday night. That means we’ve come to the end of a long process of scouting, intel work and evaluation while entering the team-building portion of the offseason. What’s so interesting about this draft is that we have very few answers on how the day will look.

On Thursday night, the 76ers added another player from Auburn by taking Johni Broome with the 35th selection in the NBA Draft. Broome became the 145th player selected from an Alabama college and was the only one in the 2025 draft. The 2024 NBA Draft did not include any players from Alabama colleges.
