Southwest to add Knoxville, international flights via BNA

Nashville International Airport announced Thursday that Southwest Airlines will launch in the spring service to five new destinations connecting BNA, including two international routes and service to Knoxville.

Knoxville residents and airport staff for years have clamored for Southwest ‒ with its reputation for solid customer service and cheap fares ‒ to set up shop in East Tennessee. Airport staff in 2017 stood in front of a chartered Southwest plane that landed in Knoxville and held a banner to let the airline know “Knoxville Is Waiting!”

‘You’ve asked... A LOT!’ | Southwest Airlines coming to McGhee Tyson Airport

Southwest will take flyers to four locations: Nashville, Dallas, Orlando and Baltimore. Flights will head to Nashville twice a day, with one daily flight planned for the other locations. “You’ve asked... A LOT! And the wait is over!” the airport said on social media. The airline is also expected to start flights in March of 2026.
