ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — It was naturally a superb start by Tarik Skubal that resulted in a 2-1 Detroit Tigers win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday night that ended a season-worst six-game losing streak for the team with the best record in the major leagues. However, Skubal didn’t get credit for the victory.

Detroit Tigers ace left-hander Tarik Skubal has been placed on the paternity list to join his wife for the birth of their second child. The move opens a spot on the active roster for right-hander Troy Melton, who was selected from Triple-A Toledo and will make his major-league debut Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh against the Pirates.
