ALBANY — The UAlbany women’s basketball team went one step beyond on Monday. A year after being supremely disappointed with a semifinal exit from the America East Tournament, the Great Danes shook off a tight first half and shook off Maine, 49-41, in a semifinal game at Broadview Center.

The Great Danes will host their first America East Championship game in nearly 10 years after beating #4 Maine in the semifinals Monday night.

The Great Danes beat one of their top rivals to make it to Friday’s America East Conference championship game. They’ll need to beat another to claim a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The University at Albany women’s basketball team won 49-41 in comeback fashion in Monday’s semifinal against Maine at Broadview Center.
