With support from the World Parrot Trust, our partners in Colombia, Procat Colombia - Proyecto de Conservación de Aguas y Tierras and SELVA Investigación para la Conservación en el Neotrópico, have installed 80 artificial nest boxes in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta to help the endangered Santa Marta Parakeet find safe places to raise their young. Deforestation has left these parrots with fewer natural nesting cavities, but with the help of local communities, we’re giving them a second chance.
