We monitor the breeding success of Aldabra Giant tortoise on Cousin Island Special Reserve. Over the past few years, we have noticed a decline in the hatching success rate. Out of the 15 nests we monitored with over 100 eggs, only one partially hatched. The eggs showed no visible signs of development to the naked eye.
