In 1962, 60 years ago, our founder Danny Thomas fulfilled a promise made to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. Danny had prayed and vowed to St. Jude, saying “Show me my way in life, and I will build you a shrine.” That shrine became St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, created with a purpose that continues to unite people from around the world.
