We have spent hours trying to get our new little man Adam, to have something to drink. He's had his mouth locked shut and hasn't let us help him. We've tried every trick but just now, my carrot soup won him over! I haven't been making any soup for close to a month. I was beginning to think I'd lost my touch but, with a bit of tweaking our bubba has gotten a taste of paradise and found his will to live. Mumma is a bit brighter today! I woke at sunrise with her beautiful face sitting up looking at me. As soon as I spoke to her, she laid her head back down and closed her eyes. A small gesture but triumphant all the same. It's normal for new wombats to only swallow their soup when they first come in. They are always exhausted but after a day or two, the chewing and enthusiasm for food begins. It's day 8 and Mumma is still only swallowing but I get the occasional chew which makes me smile. My sweetheart Beeper normally waits until I'm weary eyed and about to crawl into bed, before she gets up and asks for some sweet potato soup. Not this morning as she pushed her way ahead in the queue! She has so many nicknames - Freda, Fritti-Frances, Fitti and Pretty Princess because she is the sweetest angel on earth.
