Your eyes aren't fooling you, these are indeed 100 year old electric locomotives in revenue freight service! The Iowa Traction Railway began life as the electrified Mason City and Clear Lake Railway in 1896, under the ownership of the United Light & Railway power company. Initially freight and passenger service were provided, but passenger service was replaced by a bus in 1936. In 1960, the railroad was renamed Iowa Terminal Railroad under ownership of GM Executive and railfan Harold C. Boyer. D
