Bull Saves Calf From Charging Bear in Dramatic Forest Standoff Bozeman, Montana — November 28, 2025 A powerful bull elk became an unlikely hero Thursday morning after charging head-first into a black bear that had targeted a newborn calf in the Gallatin National Forest. According to Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, a calf was grazing near a riverbed when a black bear emerged from the treeline and sprinted directly toward a calf resting beside its mother. Witnesses said the mother attempted to pos
