After the 1967 traditional animation of “The Cricket on the Hearth”, Rankin/Bass released a stopmotion special in 1968 “Little Drummer Boy” (they had also released a non Christmas special as well in 1968). Unlike the sugary sweet Rudolph stopmotion this one was bit more mature with the storytelling and the appearance. In 1976 (along with Frosty and Rudolph) The Little Drummer Boy was given a part 2.
